February was brutal, in terms of bitterness of cold and permanence of snow on the ground.
Birding was not easy this season. Many of the usual parks had paths which could serve as ice-hockey rinks. Sheets of slippery ice were abundant, making it dangerous to go to all but a few places. Normally, there would be periods where the ice would melt. Not so much this winter.
